Manchester United fans are moving fast to forget about Cristiano Ronaldo as they have passed his famous chant on to young star Alejandro Garnacho.
Erik ten Hag’s side delighted the Old Trafford crowd as they comfortably won 3-0 against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred all on the score sheet.
The match against Forest was the club’s first Premier League fixture after the departure of Ronaldo last month, the Portuguese left United after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
Although a large majority of fans still have a soft spot for Ronaldo, many were left angered by the way his second stint at Old Trafford ended.
Now, it looks like some fans have completely wiped Ronaldo away from their memory as they have replaced the 37-year-old’s famous chant with the new kid on the block, Garnacho.
The famous ‘Viva Ronaldo’ chant was heard during the match on Tuesday, but instead of Ronaldo, it was Garnacho.
Fans were quick to jump on social media to give the new version their seal of approval.
One fan said: “They gave Garnacho Ronaldo’s chant looool.”
Another tweeted: “Whoever started the “Viva Garnacho” chant I love you.”
A third fan added: “They’ve taken the Viva Ronaldo chant and turned it into Garnacho’s. I love it.”
Someone else wrote: “Viva Garnacho hahah the chant has found the new master.”
It is no secret that United fans rate Garnacho very highly and firmly believe that the 18-year-old will continue to develop into one of the biggest stars in world football.
So far, the Argentine has made 15 appearances for the club, scoring three times.
Manager Ten Hag has previously said that Garnacho has to keep his feet on the ground to ensure his development goes smoothly.
He said: “I am really happy with his progress. We have an extra player in this squad and I am happy for the academy and they bring out a player, I am happy for the coaches, good work. So great.
“There is still for him a long way to go. He has to keep his feet on the ground, the whole team now but him especially.”
United are next in action on Saturday as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
